ASEAN Monitoring Indonesian Elections

VIVAnews - The Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) member countries is observing the Elections processes in Indonesia. Several ambassadors from the neighboring countries visited the Elections Commission (KPU) office.

"Fellow ASEAN members call for our Elections updates," said a staff of the Secretary General of Foreign Affairs Department Dino Kusnadi, on Friday, April 3, in Jakarta.

The meeting between the ambassadors and the commission went privately for almost an hour. Kusnadi said the ambassadors' visit should not be interpreted as a form of intervention. The government was also delighted to show the progress of Indonesia's democracy.

In addition to regional countries, other countries like the United States, Australia and Japan are also interested with the Elections. They are in fact contributing in the Elections processes by providing training or fund.
