VIVAnews - Anticipating the high escalation of train passenger number approaching the 2009 Elections national holiday on April 9, the state railway company PT Kereta Api (PT KA) is preparing extra train.
Public Relations Head of Operational Area I PT KA, Ahmad Sujadi, said that the rising number of passengers prior to the 2009 Elections national holiday will be anticipated by adding an extra Argolawu train departing to Solo.
"A train consists of seven extra coaches for the executive train with 350 seats. It will depart from Gambir at 09:15 p.m.," he said.
By adding extra trip for Argolawu, the passengers who are heading toward Purwokerto, Yogyakarta, Klaten, and Solo can go in one train for effectiveness.
Meanwhile, the train fare will be set at Rp 300,000. "It is predicted that the passengers will increase by 25 percent compared to normal days, from 28,000 to 36,000," he added.
In addition, the additional seats will be made possible by preparing more coaches from the previous six to between eight and 10 per departure, starting on April 7 for economic and business classes.
The long weekend is made use of by inhabitants of Jakarta to return to their hometowns. One of them was Aria Yuda (28). He planned to go back to Yogyakarta during the Elections national holiday.
"Yes, I want to vote in Yogya. I want to spend the holiday with my family as well," said the man at Gambir Train Station.
