VIVAnews - The delegation of Al-Quds International Forum is lobbying the kings and presidents of Arab countries to put pressure against Israel and support Palestine. The forum also urges them to cut off diplomatic relations with Israel.
"We implore the ruling kings and presidents around Palestine to assist the nation and support Palestinian independence," said Deputy Head of Al-Quds International Foundation Hidayat Nur Wahid, also Chairperson of Indonesian People's Consultative Council (MPR).
Wahid said that the lobbying took place between 3 and 7 January 2009. In Syria, the delegation met with the leaders of Palestinian resistance movements, including Hamas. In Jordan, they visited the survivors of the Israeli attacks at hospitals. Wahid said that in Egypt, the delegation was unable to meet the President of Egypt.
In a reply letter to the delegation, the President of Egypt said that the meeting had to be canceled due to improper schedule.
In addition, Al-Quds also expected support from Arab League Secretary General and Secretary General of Organization of the Islamic Conference. Both Islamic organizations were suggested to push Israel to end its attacks to Palestine.
Moreover, the delegation presented awards to several countries, including Jordan. The country was viewed as having the intention to overtly annul partnership with Israel.
The appreciation went to Turkey as well. It is viewed that the country has the courage to annul partnership with Israel if the country still attacks Palestine.
Mauritania was also respected for withdrawing its ambassador from Israel. The Venezuelan President was admired as well for expelling Israeli ambassador and officials from the country.
The delegation consisted of 13 people including former Sudanese President Abd Rahman Siwar, former Saudi Arabian Consultative Council Deputy Chairman and Secretary General of World Muslim League Dr Abdullah Umar and Head of the Delegation, also Head of Al-Quds International Forum Yusuf Al-Qardhawi.
