APA Discusses Terrorist Attacks in Mumbai
VIVAnews – The terrorist attacks in Mumbai, India, became a topic of discussion at the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA), in Jakarta today, 28 November.
“The issue of world peace and security is so important for us to discuss terrorism. The problem of terrorism will be discussed in the ongoing steering committee,” said Marzuki Darusman, Head of APA’s Politics Sub-Committee, at Jakarta Convention Center, Jakarta, Nov. 28.
The Mumbai incident, said Marzuki, is deemed shocking. The APA, said Marzuki, regrets the loss suffered due to the incident. “But this also becomes a reminder to us, that terrorism is real and can occur in any part of the world,” he said.
Marzuki regrets the fact that Islam is stigmatized in every terrorist act. Therefore the APA will also find a way to eliminate such stigmatization.
“This is what the world needs to understand, that we need to cut the connection between terrorism and Islam, so that there is no stigma where a religion is connected to terrorism,” Marzuki said.
