Trade Minister Mari Elka Pangestu said that the donation is granted to boost investment through Multi-Donor Facility for Trade and Investment Climate (MDF-TIC). "The main idea is how to get aid for improving institutions," she said on Friday, Dec 5.

Today is the first meeting of MDF-TIC Committe of Policy Advisors, co-presided by Minister of Trade and Minister of Economy.

The projects that would be supported by the facility includes improvement of the Department of Trade, betterment of trade competition, development of financial sector and regulation reform.

Pangestu said that either the policy and the meeting has been prepared long before the crisis occurs. The measure is needed to, among any others, set out bureaucratic reform. Therefore, she said, investment climate in Indonesia can be better.

"Indonesia is now facing a challenge on how to maintain trade growth," said Pangestu. As a result, it is important that economic institutions have the capacity as well as more effective policies in creating new markets.

The fund distribution would be as follows: 60 percent for the Department of Trade and 40 percent for promoting coordination in the Coordinating Department of Economy.

The facility will be organized by World Bank in four years. Each quarter, the administrating committee consisting of high representatives of the Department of Trade, Coordinating Ministry for the Economy, World Bank, the Dutch government, and potential donors, will meet to discuss the project proposal
