VIVAnews - The Indonesian society should not lean too much on US President-elect Barack Obama. According to former Chairperson of People's Consultative Council Amien Rais, Obama cannot provide changes that he claim he would make in his speeches.
"Although he once studied and lived in Indonesia, the political, economic and social contexts do not support Obama to make changes," said Rais on Monday, Dec 22.
Rais also said that Obama is currently occupied by domestic issues, forcing the US President-elect to concentrate on formulating solutions for his own country. According to him, Indonesia must still be cautious with the United States.
"The United States has a special character despite the fact that a new president has been elected. The United States has always intended on being a super power," he said. Rais went on to say that the United States still wants to take control of energy sources and imbues neo-liberal economic system.
