VIVAnews - The Indonesian Association of Shoe Makers (Aprisindo) honored Vice President Jusuf Kalla as the "Everyday Hero" in shoe sector.
"We crown Vice President as a shoe hero because he inspires everyone to wear Indonesian-made shoes," said Aprisindo Head, Edy Wijanarko, on Monday, March 2.
A ceaseless effort made lately by Kalla to promote domestic shoes has made him the "supporter" of footwear producer.
Shoes inspection over the ministers of the United Indonesia Cabinet during a meeting has triggered domestic shoes production to increase. Those shoes, produced in Cibaduyut, Bandung, were once again gaining popularity. It finally led to a national exhibition on footwear and leather products which was held by joint associations.
The exhibition proved successful. A shoe maker from Cibaduyut acknowledged that he had an offer from foreign buyers.
Irwansyah Tanjung, the shoe maker, said the buyers were from France, Australia, and Italy. He also claimed that he earned the highest sales among other participants.
In response to the situation, Tanjung asked other shoe makers to help him produce more shoes.
