"It is understandable if Megawati initiates political communication with Golkar (Functional Group) Party, Prabowo, and other figures," said Head of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P)'s campaigning team, Tjahjo Kumolo, at the parliamentary complex on Tuesday, March 3.

In fact, as PDIP Chairperson, Megawati will attend a discussion entitled "PPP Hears" which will be held by the United Development Party (PPP). She will be in the forum after meeting Vice President Jusuf Kalla, who is also the Chairperson of the Functional Group Party.

Concerning the decision to form future coalitions with certain parties aiming at winning the presidential elections, Kumolo said that everything will be decided after the vote result in the legislative elections is found out.

PDI-P won the 1999 Election. The party got majority votes in the House of Representatives (DPR) with 151 seats.

However, Megawati failed to take the presidential office because she lost votes against Abdurrahman Wahid in the People's Consultative Council (MPR)'s General Assembly in 1999. Megawati was only elected the Vice President.
