Report Says, China and England to Buy Elnusa

VIVAnews - Asian and European investors are reported as looking at a chance of acquiring shares of PT Pertamina and PT Elnusa Tbk (ELSA).

An anonymous VIVAnews source said some Chinese and British investors had proposed for the shares with premium prices. "In the near future, a general meeting of shareholders will be held in order to ask approval of the price offer," the anonymous source said on Thursday, April 2.

Elnusa Director Eddy Sjahbuddin suggested as confirmed that the information can be directly verified to Agus Gunawan, Elnusa Corporate Secretary.

However, until the story is written, Gunawan has yet to give any response.

As of January 31, 2008, state oil and gas company Pertamina controlled ELSA-coded shares by 41.1 percent and PT Tridaya Esta by 37.15 percent.

Stock market analyst Ukie Jaya Mahendra said the information of the share acquisition will boost the company's shares. "If the report is true, go buy ELSA [shares]," he said.

Yet, he acknowledged that it may not surely positively affect Elnusa's performance. The reason is that the ELSA buyer-to-be is only aimed at securing its business contract.
