Mustika Ratu's Sale May Jump 20% in 2009

VIVAnews - PT Mustika Ratu Tbk. (MRAT) is targeting on company's sale increase 20 percent in 2009.

"Cosmetics nowadays have been becoming a daily need for women, so we're optimist [our] sale will grow," said the vice president director of Mustika Ratu Putri K. Wardhani in Jakarta on Monday, April 5.

Mustika Ratu has recorded sale of Rp 450 billion (US$39.39 million) in 2008, higher 30 percent than in 2007. "Based on Nielsen's survey, the national cosmetics sale grows 15 percent, so our sale [percentage] is above the rate," she explained.

The sale number is dominated by a body slimming beverage product, i.e. Slimming Tea, according to Wardhani.

Mustika Ratu also runs the cosmetics export market in Malaysia, Arab Saudi, Hong Kong, Brunei Darussalam, Africa, and the Middle East. "The export's composition reaches 30 percent of the total sale," she explained furthermore. Malaysia is the biggest export market for Mustika Ratu which covers almost 50 percent of the total export.

Wardhani said that Mustika Ratu is preparing a new investment of a new factory construction in Bekasi. "[We] don't know yet the value because [it's still under] a feasibility study," she stated.

Nevertheless, she is optimist that the factory construction will be started in 2010 or 2011.

Meanwhile, Mustika Ratu's capital expenditure (capex) in 2009 will be allocated for warehouse machine, information technology enhancement, and products research and development. "[2009] capex will be around Rp 13 billion [US$1.14 million]," she said.
