State Income from Export Sharply Down

VIVAnews - State income from exports in the first quarter of 2009 declined sharply compared to the same period of 2008. Director General of State Treasury recorded on April 23 that the new income reached Rp 387 billion (US$35.93 million) in exports, compared to last year's Rp 4.4 trillion (US$408.34 million).

Director General of State Treasury Herry Purnomo said that the decrease in export income is caused by the global economic slowdown, "It's very normal," he said on Tuesday, April 28.

Anwar Suprijadi, Director General of Tax and Excise, explained that export decline in the first quarter is recorded minus 35 percent, while imports minus 30 percent. However, the targeted income up to April 7 has reached Rp 2.53 trillion (US$234.87 million).
