Mandiri Shares 35% of Dividend

VIVAnews - PT Bank Mandiri Tbk. (BMRI) shared 35 percent dividend of the 2008 net profit, which is lower than the previous year with a pay-out ratio of 50 percent.

Based on the percentage, the total shared dividend reaches Rp 1.85 trillion (US$174.5 million) or around Rp 88.5 per share.

"The bank needs capital injection," said one of Mandiri's investors in Jakarta on Monday, May 4.

Mandiri President Director Agus Martowardojo said the general meeting of shareholders has decided to be more focused on retained earnings based on the development of global and national macro economy. 

The company sets aside 60.5 percent of the 2008 net profit valuing Rp 3.21 trillion to support the capital structure. "Mandiri's capital adequacy ratio [CAR] is expected to exceed Bank Indonesia's minimum regulation of 8 percent," Martowardojo said.

Mandiri's net profit in 2008 was recorded Rp 5.31 trillion, 22.3 percent higher  compared to the same period in 2007 of Rp 4.34 trillion. The profit increase was supported by operational profit growth to Rp 7.9 trillion.
