ANZ Plans to Enter Big Four

VIVAnews - ANZ is planning to be listed big four of banks in Indonesia by 2012. The plan will involve ANZ Panin Indonesia and PT Bank Panin Tbk. ANZ has invested around A$600 millions (US$413.56 millions) in Indonesia for the past seven years.

"As a group, we can be the fourth largest bank in Indonesia, comprising two separate banks," said ANZ Asia Pacific CEO Alex Thursby on Monday, March 23.

To reach the target, the company will maximize its services in retail costumers and corporate clients, concerning also with keys of economic growth like natural resources, agriculture, and infrastructure.

To support the target, ANZ is going to continue its investment in Indonesia by focusing on six major cities such as Jakarta, Medan, Semarang, Bandung, Surabaya, and Denpasar. He said that Indonesia is deemed top priority in the development of Asian market.

ANZ launched the newest global brand in Indonesia along with the opening of two new branch offices in Kelapa Gading and Pondok Indah, Jakarta. The new offices are the sixth and seventh branch offices.

ANZ has been in operation since 1973 in Indonesia and is the owner of majority shares of PT ANZ Panin Bank which is based in Jakarta. ANZ controls 38 percent of shares in Bank Panin, while ANZ Panin is 85 percent owned by ANZ.
