Bulyan Royan to Face Charges
VIVAnews - Member of the House of representatives, Bulyan Royan, will face charges from the Prosecuting Attorney of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) today, Thursday, 20 Nov. The trial will be held at the Corruption Special Court.
According to schedule, the trial begins at 11.30 am. The Prosecuting Attorney would read the charges, regarding a bribe that Bulyan allegedly received, in the amount of US$ 66,000 and 5,500 Euros.
The money was allegedly given by the director of PT Bina Mina Karya Perkasa (BMKP), Dedi Suwarsono, in relation to patrol ship procurements, for the Marine Transportation General Directorate, of the Department of Transportation.
Bulyan Royan was arrested when he was shopping with his wife in the Plaza Senayan Shopping arcade, Monday, 30th June 2008, at Senayan. Bulyan was arrested in the western entrance of the Plaza, right after he finished exchanging money from a money changer.
Aside from Bulyan, the KPK had also arrested the Director of PT BMKP, Dedi Suwarsono, the partner in the ship procurement. Dedi had already been charged with four years of imprisonment.
The facts presented in the court, revealed that Bulyan asked for an 8 percent fee and a marked up budgeting to all partners.
The case arose when the Department of Transportation wanted to procure 20 new patrol ships for the Marine Transportation General Directorate of the Transportation Department.
