Indonesia Aiming Exports at Europe

VIVAnews - Indonesia will expand exports to Europe. Vice President Jusuf Kalla said that Europe is a potential market because it is not as seriously affected as the United States is.

Kalla also said that the plan to expand exports is required to alleviate the impact of decreasing exported commodities such as textiles, electronics and rubber to the United States. "Therefore, exports to the United States must be increased," said Kalla after welcoming Belgian heir to the throne Prince Philippe at the Vice Presidential office, Monday, Nov 24.

Kalla said that Belgium has an important role in the planned expanded export market. The reason for this is that Belgian capital Brussel is also the capital of the European Union.

"Administration access to the European Union through Brussel is very important," said Kalla. For the time being, Kalla noted that the value of Indonesian exports to Europe is up to US$15 billion each year. During the last three months, the value of exports increases because rubber and crude palm oil stocks in America and Europe are lessening.
