VIVAnews – Several names have often been uttered as possible running mates for Megawati Soekarnoputri in the 2009 Presidential Elections. Based on a survey, the strongest candidate is President of Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), Hidayat Nur Wahid.
Based on survey results received by VIVAnews, Tuesday, 20 January, from DNA Strategic Communication, there are four top vice presidential candidates for Megawati, and as many as 40 percent supports Nur Wahid as Megawati’s running mate.
The survey involves 1,013 respondents with purposive random sampling method and 95% confidence level. It was conducted during the first and second week of 2009.
The three other names are: Setiawan Djody, Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X, and Akbar Tandjung. According to the survey, Akbar Tandjung was last in line when it comes to respondents’ confidence of him being Megawati’s running mate.
According to the survey, the best running mate for Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is still Jusuf Kalla. Kalla received the highest support with 31 percent. The three other top candidates are Hidayat Nur Wahid, followed by Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X, and finally Setiawan Djody.
“This survey was not done to compare the popularity of SBY-JK with Megawati-Hidayat,” said Managing Director of DNA Strategic Communication, Dono B. Baswoko, in a written statement.
