Rp 3 Billion for Fishermen's Homes

VIVAnews - The government of Mataram Municipality is preparing budget of around Rp 3 billion (US$275,358) to build seawall as well as repair fishermen's homes which were thumped by waves in Ampenan Subdistrict, West Nusa Tenggara. The fund will be taken from State Budget and Regional Budget of Mataram Municipality.

Mayor of Mataram Muhammad Ruslan said that the seawall will be erected and the damaged fishermen's homes will be repaired. Especially for building the seawall and renovating fishermen's homes, his party will prepare budget of around Rp 2.5 billion.

In addition to land, Rp 1 billion of fund will be made ready. "Therefore, the total budget reaches more than Rp 3 billion. People will not have to worry anymore," said Ruslan on Wednesday, Jan 7.

However, not every inch of coastal lines will be designed for the seawall. Yet, it will be adjusted with the situation. If the seawall is built along the coast, fishermen will not have any spot to dock their boat.

Meanwhile, fishermen's homes which were previously made of bamboo will be upgraded to brick-wall on an area of 98 acres. As many as 80 units of homes equipped with bathroom and lavatory are aimed at improving cleanliness and health protection for local community.

It is planned that the seawall will be developed around Bintaro Jaya, while fishermen's homes will be built around Skip and Karang Panas.
