Indonesia Needs Figure Like Ahmadinejad

VIVAnews - According to an Indonesian Reform figure Amien Rais, Indonesia requires a leader who is strong and bold in facing pressures from international community as well as corporates.

"We need a leader like Ahmadinejad," said Rais.

The Iranian President, according to him, has the audacity to deal with three great forces such as top corporates, which exploit natural resources, foreign political power and mass media. "Mass media forms opinions which support certain corporates and political forces," said Rais.

Prior to citing Ahmadinejad as an ideal nation's leader, Rais urged people to choose neither Megawati Soekarnoputri nor Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono as the next Indonesian President. "If [the public] wishes for stagnancy, then either [Megawati or Yudhoyono] should be elected," said Rais.

According to Rais, both presidential candidates offer equal economic system: market-friendly and is dependent on the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Trade Organization (WTO). "Both of them had issued Law which benefited foreigners and caused losses to the Indonesian nation," he said on Thursday, Feb 5.
