VIVAnews -Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati revealed that the government has released global bonds in New York, the United States.
"We'll await the result tonight," said Finance Minister on Thursday, Feb 26.
The government has earlier intended to issue global bonds as it is evaluating the market. Should the market still maintain reasonable prices and the risk will not weigh on due date patterns, then the government will bring off the sales.
As for the bonds issuance, Finance Minister explained that the government will also look at bonds period and interest rate considered as natural. "However, the bonds issuance will add to current loans," he said.
The government requires fund for covering the increased budget deficit which reached Rp 139 trillion (US$11.6 billion) or 2.5 percent of the GDP in 2009.
In order to cover the deficit, the government issues bonds, seeks bilateral and multilateral loans and relies on last year's budget surplus.
